Digital Radiography

Digital radiography is the capture of X-rays onto a special plate that transforms them into a digital image.  This image appears on a computer screen within seconds, allowing additional images to be taken more quickly and efficiently.  The digital capability allows the image to be adjusted for contrast and brightness, making even subtle lesions more easily identified.  This also allows for evaluation of soft tissue structures, which could not be done so easily with traditional film radiography.

This format also allows both the hospital and the client to easily keep the radiographs.  A CD is made, essentially allowing original radiographs to be given to you, whilst the hard drive images remain with the hospital, as required by law.  This also allows radiographs to be shared with your referring, or another consulting, veterinarian, or even your farrier.
